Chapter Seventeen

Lacey

WE TURN DOWN A LONG road and drive for half a mile before a group of homes comes into view. These homes are gorgeous, large and perfect for us. We pull behind a big truck. As we get out, Blake comes out of the house and waves. He jogs over to us and gives me a hug.

“How are you guys?” He asks.

“We’re great. How’s construction going?” Nate asks.

“Eh, it’s going. There are some delays with deliveries that are putting me behind schedule but I'm working on whatever I can do to get these done in the timeline we gave Lincoln and Nick.”

Wes walks out and greets us.

“Let us show you guys around. The houses form a large circle. We plan to fence between the houses so the center is completely fenced in for kids or dogs.”

“Dogs?” Nate asks with a raised brow.

“I might have promised Charlie she could get a dog after we move.”

“She has you wrapped around her finger,” I say with a big smile.

“Yes, she does. She knows it too. The first house is mine, of course, Nicky is next door.” He smirks. “Then it’s Hunter, Cole, Lincoln, you, and Blake is the other side of me. Lincoln asked for you to be next to him, I figured you would prefer Blake over Cole.”

“Thanks, man. Do you know how long until we can move in?”

“We?” Blake asks with a raised brow. I give him a smirk, pulling out the ultrasound picture.

“We,” I hand Blake the photo. His jaw falls as he glances between Nate and I. Wes snatches the picture out of his hands and stares at it, a cheeky grin spreading across his face.

“Really?” Wes asks.

“Yup. We found out last night, just left the doctors.”

“Congrats guys!” He pulls us each into a hug. “Welcome to the family.” He whispers in my ear before he pulls away.

“I think we broke Blake,” I elbow Nate, he snorts with laughter.

“Ya’ll are going to kill me with the baby making. Your house will take priority over Nick’s.” He sighs, running his hand through his hair. He seems stressed out. I put my hand on his arm to get his full attention.

“Blake, if it’s not done before the baby’s born it’s not a big deal. We can find somewhere else to stay until it’s done.”

“You could take the first floor of the house once Addi and I move out. That way you don’t have to pay rent. We can't sell the house until everyone’s out anyway.” Wes shrugs his shoulders.

“No, I’ll get it done before the baby’s born. I don’t want you to have to move with an infant. How far along are you?” Blake scribbles something on his notepad.

“Eight weeks.”

“Ok, so I have thirty weeks. That should be more than enough time. I was hoping to be done working on Lincoln’s and Nick’s in two months but with the delayed shipments it will take a little longer. Can you paint?” Blake asks Nate.

“Yea, I can paint. I can help wherever you need me.
